Exchange control regulations in South Africa apply to the repatriation of proceeds. Overseas investors should consult their own legal and financial advisers regarding applicable regulations in their jurisdiction.
Certificated shareholders hold a physical share certificate as proof of ownership. Dematerialised shareholders hold their shares electronically through a Central Securities Depository Participant (CSDP) or broker. The JSE strongly encourages dematerialisation.
